I went to my files from Grace's last two litters. Both litters she did exactly what Hilde is doing. I start taking the temperature, it's about 100.x About Day 59/60, it dips down to 97 floats around there for another reading and then goes up.
Grace's 1st litter? she had five healthy beautiful puppies 36 hours later
Grace's 2nd litter? she was about 100.x, about day 59/60, dips to 97, floats there for a while and the puppies were born 8 days later. augh, what?
how ya doing on the temperature theory? kind of like me at this point I bet, hmm, it works and then it doesn't work and then I don't know what it will do next, is this really effective you ask yourself
question: why do you continue taking the temperature if its a crap shoot?
answer: to ensure everything is going well, it's not a science, better safe than sorry, and since the bitch can't talk [that was the technical term folks], I use my trusty thermometer to find out what's going on and if there's anything I can do.
for now? she's fluctuating, eating, and feeling very pregnant. Puppies are rolling around but not like bumper cars like they were a few days ago. She's very comfortable in her whelping box and goes in there to rest. At any sound of noise she's on her feet seeing what's going on in the house.
did you watch Greys Anatomy tonight? their theory is to wait
just wait, all in a day's work this will be retrospect and we will know exactly what was happening after it's through the birthing process
have a great day, you'll be the first to know as this miracle of life progresses
blessings,
Paula
